Pride for Pay? Johnny Castle to Headline Houston Parade
I’ve never had much of an issue with gay-for-pay stars. Some are in it for the money, some are just sexually confused and some are just plain hot. So I know that Johnny Castle, for instance, is never going to fall in love with me, but I could easily get a nut thinking that he might let me lick his balls for a few hours (assuming I pay the Forest Meet the Stars fee, of course). He’s many things to many people, including a hunky piece of meat to me, but I’m not sure what he’s doing pushing Pride.
As much as I love the guy, I was a bit perplexed when I got an email tonight from manager David Forest that Castle will be headlining at three Pride parades this summer. He’ll be making a guest appearance in North Carolina and signing autographs in Georgia, but in Houston the not-gay star will be on a float, which is a little like Mark Dalton marching in a Take Back The Night Rally.

This is just further evidence of the gay community’s self-loathing and emotional retardation.
Why is it that most gays can’t seem to differentiate between sexual fantasies and actual (and sometimes unpleasant) realities?
Just because you find a man attractive does NOT necessarily mean he should be lauded socially and asked to ride a Gay Pride float. It’s a Gay PRIDE parade NOT a Gay Fantasy parade!
Some VERY hot guys are NOT friends of the gay community. It’s unfortunate but it’s true.

From the headline I thought he was the friggin’ Grand Marshal, but turns out he’s just on a float. I was all set to be outraged, but this is now a nonissue, as Pride parades are supposed to be inclusive — AND hot.

Every year David Forrest gets his models these gigs. They are paid gigs but more importantly it is an attempt to make them gay friendly and almost gay. Everyone can celebrate gay pride no matter what somone’s orientation is. However, when pride parties pay straight performers to dance or be the Marshal of gay pride parades, it is an insult to every gay person. The model is only appearing for money and NOT to celebrate gay pride. However, I dont fault Forrest or Castle but the event organizer who looked past equally HOT gay peformers who would have done it for free. To make matters even WORSE, Castle is not GAY FOR PAY. He does not have sex with men. Houston is not known as a gay mecca, but let us begin the boycott NOW! I will never travel to Houston :)
BTW, your headline is incorrect, Castle is NOT gay for pay. That implies that Castle is having sex with guys for money. Dont tell me Gaypornblog has been brainwashed too :)

I always tell any gay-for-pay models I work with that I don’t care if they’re gay or straight–as long as, for the next few hours, they make me BELIEVE they’re gay.
And I don’t have a problem with a straight guy appearing at a pride function. Lots of straight people show up at these events every year to support us (even though they are not doing so for financial reasons. The question is (and it may be a no-brainer), would Castle be there if he wasn’t being paid to be there? And even then, is it a big deal? Part of the fun of these things is to check out the eye candy, and Mr. Castle has lollipops to spare.
Just let’s not make him Grand Marshall or anything…

Okay—this is just straight up RUDE. Be gay for pay if you want….and if you dig the gay for pay types, more power to you….however, do not come into our events saying you support us when we know (as do you) that if we were not buying videos that you were in (or paying DF’s hourly charge–pandering is pandering…don’t matter how you dress is up) that you would not be giving any of us time of day (and I strongly suspect would be a bit of a gay-basher…just a hunch, but my hunches are usually spot-on).

It seems a little whatever to have a str8 guy headlining a PRIDE event true… but having said that I have met and spent a little time with Johnny and he’s a total sweetheart… he could melt even the iciest heart. Considering he’s not a grand marshal or anything, I think this isn’t such a big deal. I could do without the 800 tons of porn star floats/booths that are part of Pride anyways, they get so tiring. The last time I saw anything at Pride parade that actually elicited, y’know, pride, was when I saw a float full of kids from Hetrick Martin and the Harvey Milk School in NYC in 2000. Me and my friends were so in awe of how great all these kids were and so happy for how proud they were and how they were such a diverse bunch. They were immediately followed by some “hotcollegeboiz.com” type of float with hairless twinks in jockstraps, proving that the only thing that really matters to the gays is your fuckability quotient!

funny, i was going to blog the same thought. it’s rediculous that Castle is celebrating Pride, especially after all the rumors and gossip people used to whisper about him on the set. Cocktails with the Stars guests used to slam him all the time for being heavily homophobic outside of doing gay porn and for now us to see him celebrating gay pride is just a slap in the face. I didn’t see him at the GayVNs… must not have been paid to go… love Forest but Castle… I’ll pass!

No one here is suggesting that a straight person cannot or should not be allowed to participate in a Gay Pride parade. The objections to Mr. Castle’s participation have to do with his alleged past homophobia (see archives of this blog).
Sure, the Gay Pride parade should be inclusive and ANYONE who proudly supports the community should join in. It should NOT, however, be attended by people who have a negative regard for the community but see fit to cash its checks so to speak.

I understand some of you are angry at the idea of a pride event becoming a superficial fantasy land, and I understand how that would upset.
I also understand how some of you are really unphased by a pretty face in the crowd, or, er, on a float.
