Is Brent Corrigan A Twitter Racist?
In my post about “DaddyHunt: The Serial,” I pointed out that the Huffington Post changed the name of the “Gay Voices” section to “Queer Voices” at the beginning of the week.
I am getting used to the modern incarnation of the word “queer.” Growing up, Smear the Queer was both a physical and a mind game.
The topic made its way to twitter when Brent Corrigan chimed in:
It's our "Nigger". Queer is actually used to encompass also the strange straights that are major lovers of homo culture. @SeanHarkin

On the “queer” part, Brent Corrigan has a point …
Sure, we don't use it in our wrap music or litter our media with it but we are taking it back so it cannot hurt us any more. @omgitsc

But when it comes to the other word, I think Brent had a pointed head …
I can make a comment on grounds of my own observations & immediately black gay men come out of nowhere to make it a "white v. black" thing.

My comment about "queer" & "nigger" was not racist. I didn't use either derogatorily or aim them at any person.

My part of this discussion is over. There are too many people w/blinders on, reading only my 1 tweet, attacking me without reading the rest.

As a grown man who strings together words like “gaping” and “hole” as work product, I still think of “ni_ger” as the “n word.”
And I don’t think Brent Corrigan is a racist.
But I also don’t think any white guy can cry foul for using “ni_ger” in something limited to 140 characters and claim it was taken out of context.
Brent could have used “n word” and not spelled it out. But if he had done that, we wouldn’t be talking about it. Or him. Which was likely his real goal all along.
TGIF!

I get what he’s saying, but it’s not “nigger” more like “nigga” as a term of enderment for some black people in the ghetto (or hood). I’m black by the way.

This queer label of the gay community is a bunch of bullshit and they just need to drop that word altogether. it will always mean strange. it is a word people have died over. we don;t need to take back shit. We need to bury it.
