“Back to the Future Part II” was first released almost 26 years ago on November 22, 1989. In it, Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to then distant future date of October 21, 2015 which just happens to be today. True, we don’t have flying cars or hoverboards but we do have marriage equality. The idea of gay marriage was so far from reality at the time that this scene that was deleted from the original theatrical release:
1989 was actually an instrumental year in American pop culture:
The very first episode of The Simpsons aired
The Berlin Wall came down.
Instead of going back to the future, Cher wanted to turn back time …
Madonna had us finding religion with “Like A Prayer”
The Divine Miss M was the “Wind Beneath Our Wings”
Pleats, paisleys and patterns ruled the runways.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee was working as a software engineer at the CERN particle physics laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. He developed a way for scientists all over the globe to share information through the burgeoning Internet and is credited with inventing something we now call the World Wide Web.
If Sir Tim hadn’t invented the WWW, we would have to go to the “adult book store” to refresh our memories of the biggest film in the gay porn year of 1989 … “Manrammer” from Falcon Studios with the ever hairy and hung Chad Douglas and the late Dick Masters
