“I Want Your Love” Premieres This Sunday

I Want Your Love: A feature film directed by Travis Mathews

One of the most unexpected things I learned while producing my first independent feature film is that these damn things take forever. What started out as a conversation about San Francisco hipsters between me and director Travis Mathews at a dinner party back in 2009 is finally almost ready for primetime. It’s been a long, hard road filled with all sorts of unexpected obstacles along the way and there’s still lots to do, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I finally have something to say when people ask me when or where they can see the NakedSword-produced feature-length version of I Want Your Love.

The world premiere of I Want Your Love is this Sunday, June 17, 9:30 p.m. at the Castro Theater as part of Frameline International LGBT Film Festival. More details on the facebook page for the event. Don’t quote me on this, but I’m fairly certain that this is going to be the first time that man-on-man rimming will be projected on the massive screen of this historical theatre. If you’re not going to be in San Francisco this weekend, IWYL will be making the rounds at a bunch of GLBT film festivals over the next few months. Check the official site or follow I Want Your Love on Facebook to see if there’s a screening happening in your neck of the woods.

After the jump, check out the trailer … otherwise, I hope to see everyone there!

Marc, Codi- After the film plays on the film festival circuit, it will be released on DVD and be available for download — probably after the summer. I will let everyone know.

Thanks for your support, guys …

Saw it at the Toronto Inside Out festival and I honestly have to say it’s one of the best gay films I’ve seen in a very, very long time. Definitely raw, honest and touching…and the graphic sex is just a bonus. I am really surprised the director was able to find amateurs who definitely knew how to act. It’s one of the more realistic portrayal of gay life today…and I actually liked it a lot more than Weekend. The main character’s journey really hit close to home for me and aybe that’s why I loved it so much. You are all in for a treat :)

Is it going to be showing at the Quad Cinema in New York City?

  6. Julien says:

Oops, just re-read the post and found the NYC date. Thanks!

i was a huge fan of the short and totally respect the work involved, but i have to say that the short is much more thought provoking and satisfying than the feature. looking forward to the sequel (?)…
