BJs and the Bear: Buckshot’s Big Rig
Truckers may be an ornery race, but their sex appeal is legendary. The hairy, brutish loners embody an almost Hobbesian sexual identity, shooting from rest stop to rest stop without benefit of name or number, terrifying leisure motorists with their massive cabs and imposing muscles, and turning out hitchhikers as if they were take-out. No wonder they’ve been shower-nozzle masturbation material for generations.
Buckshot Productions (a division of COLT Studio Group) has just released Big Rig — a well-oiled paean to the interstate cowboy that is as hot as it is charming. Grizzled hunk Gus Mattox drives Colby Taylor‘s chassis hard in this road trip romance, but sex is just part of what makes this one of the best porn films so far this year. Big Rig covers lots of sexual ground for a DVD — from circuit-queen key parties and unfulfilling relationships (Colby takes to the road after boyfriend Eddy Mataro chooses scene over substance) to gas station bathrooms and trucker cabs. It’s an ambitious project that Buckshot director John Rutherford pulls off with style and raw sexual energy. While the 18-wheel cocks of stars like Jason Crew, Colby Taylor and Brad Patton certainly lend the movie its sizzle, it’s screenwriter Tom Settle’s story that gives Big Rig the staying power of a classic (People often think that Jack and I are unflinchingly pro-dialogue, cause of the work on plot-rich porn like Wet Palms, Cross Country and Master of the House, but in truth nothing frustrates us more than a plot without a point). Big Rig is smart and sexy, and uses story to set up scenes and intensify the fantasy. And that makes us come harder and longer.
There’s something primal about wanting to abandon the rarefied air of modern gay life and escape to the rough-and-ready open road. Big Rig supplies hardcore grease with which to pop innumerable gaskets, all while indulging our fantasy to take life for a spin on the open road.
