PATRICK COWLEY’S GAY PORN ‘DREAM’

I first discovered the work of electronic music producer Patrick Cowley while looking for music for Seed Money. His work on Sylvester’s Stars seemed like an incredible fit for a documentary about vintage porn, and we ended up using it in the Seed Money fundraising trailer.

It looks like we’re not the only ones to make the connection between his languorous disco beats and casual, frequent gay sex.

San Francisco-based Honey Soundsystem has paired up with Dark Entries records on a release of some of Cowley’s lost tapes. After the jump, a video for Cowley’s Mockingbird Dream, mixed with video from vintage gay porn studio Fox Studio’s School Daze. I know it’s only Monday morning, but it’s time break out the poppers …

You know, he actually did do the soundtracks for all those Fox videos.

You are the man. I think Patrick Cowley also produced Paul Parker’s “You’re Right On Target”. I think I actually was aware of Paul Parker before I knew of Sylvester.

I remember “listening in” on a couple of messageboards dedicated to “House Music” back in the day and, there you had these meessageboards of Gay Men allegedly talking about dance music and not once did Sylvester’s name come up and not once did the name Patrick Cowley come up. How the fuck can you claim to know anything at all about dance music if you’re never fucking heard of Patrick Cowley and Sylvester?

With the mega popularity of LMFAO and the “return” of Giorgio Moroder suddenly, the cluless house music (we ain’t disco) fucks are embracing something call EDM – electronic dance music. In other words, have years of declaring that House was radically different from disco (when the “originators” of House started out playing disco records), House, Disco and everything else DANCE is not being lumped into EDM.

Thank you for pointing out this Patrick Cowley link to Fox Studios.

Okay, I give up. What the hell do poppers do besides speed you up for a minute and then make your face burn for 30 more minutes? I’ve done them. i don’t get it. If I want to get off with this music or get off on this music-poppers would be the last thing from my mind. Love the track, btw, but poppers, ewwww!
